SB 40L

The SB 40L is Raide’s avalanche safety pack for skiers who want an added layer of safety without the weight and bulk of an airbag. It carries the Safeback SBX system, which gives an active air supply for 90 minutes at −30 °C in a burial, and it’s still big enough for hut trips and overnight objectives, at 40 L that expands to 50 L.

Every part is built for the backcountry. The SBX unit takes only 0.75 L and comes out, along with the aluminum frame, and Raide’s patented avalanche tool access takes shovels up to 12 inches wide. There’s back-panel access to the main compartment, stash pockets for skins, two zipped hip pockets, an ice tool carry and a helmet carry, and skis go on in four ways. The fabric is UHMWPE, rated to a 130,000 mm hydrostatic head. It weighs 1,880 g, or 1,200 g stripped.
