Glacier 01

The Glacier 01 is a pair of mountain sunglasses from Vuarnet, a new take on the Glacier, the brand’s icon since 1974, with removable side shields. The frame mixes bio acetate and beta titanium, the lenses are Vuarnet’s own mineral glass, 100% natural and recyclable, and it’s made in Japan.

The Skilynx lens is what suits it to the mountains. Vuarnet designed it for snow and mountain sports and says it started its mineral lens revolution: it sharpens the relief of the terrain and the sense of distance, raises contrast in fog and flat light, and cuts glare, with a silver bi-shaded mirror outside and an anti-reflective coating inside. It’s a category 3 lens with 100% UV protection. The 8 mm polarized triacetate side shields and the nose piece come off with magnets, and the leather cord is removable too. The lenses are 52 mm wide.
